Overview:
We have a packed agenda exploring the unique framework we use at 42nd Street’s creative space, The Horsfall, as we celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
We’ll reflect on The Horsfall’s journey from its inception to the vibrant creative space it is today and explore its unique model of support bringing together the young person, the artist and the mental health practitioner.
National Focus:
Alongside wider national developments in youth mental health, the event invites us to consider how creativity, community and culture can play a central role in shaping better futures for young people. With a livestream connecting audiences, voices and learnings across the country.
What to Expect:
The symposium is a unique experience that shines a light on the transformational power of creativity, driven by the voice and lens of young people’s mental health and wellbeing sharing creative work, lived experience and insight with an audience of mental health practitioners, artists, educators and policymakers.
Through performance and discussion, you’ll experience creativity can have on a young person’s mental health and emotional wellbeing when they are given voice, agency, supported throughout the process by artists and mental health practitioners.

42nd Street and The Horsfall
42nd Street is an innovative Greater Manchester young people’s mental health charity with over 42 years’ experience of providing free and confidential services to young people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. 42nd Street’s vision is for inclusive, accessible mental health and wellbeing support and opportunities for all young people. Our shared mission is to support young people with their emotional well-being and mental health by offering a choice of effective, creative, young person-centred and rights based approaches. By demonstrating local impact with national significance, we drive meaningful change that makes a positive difference to the lives of young people. The Horsfall is our creative venue where we offer our creative programme to support emotional wellbeing and mental health:
We believe that everyone can be creative and that creativity has a profound benefit on mental health and wellbeing and so our bespoke gallery space and programme -curated by young people- offers unique opportunities for young people to work alongside established and emerging artists to explore and share their stories, challenge the status quo and express themselves.
