Blessing of the Animals | St. Francis Day

This year’s Blessing of the Animals holds special significance as 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment.

Bring your beloved pets (leashed or in carriers, please) for a special outdoor Blessing of the Animals with Brother Phil Bernier and monks from The Capuchin Ministries of Cleveland, honoring St. Francis’ enduring legacy of compassion for animals and care for the natural world.

This is FREE and open to all faiths and families.

Individual pet blessings will be offered on a first-come basis, with complimentary bandanas for blessed pets, cat and dog treats, and treats, coffee and apple cider for their humans. The free, family-friendly event will take place outside The Friars’ Table, founded by Chef Brandon Chrostowski and Brother Phil, a Franciscan friar and pastor of St. Peter Church.
