The Fathers We Had, The Fathers We Needed: Grief Circle for the Fatherline
About this Event
.Hosted by the Denver Deathcare Collective. Where grief is tended and death is sacred.
These monthly grief circles at Sakala Community are a compassionate space to hold your sorrow in the embrace of community.
This month, Emma Weisfeld-Adams of Beautiful Life Beautiful Death will guide our circle in a gentle space to tend to the grief of the Fatherline in its many forms.
Whether you are grieving a father who has died, a father who was never truly there, a relationship that never became what you hoped, or you are simply carrying the weight of what has been passed from one generation to the next, this circle is for you.
Some of us are grieving the fathers we had. Others are grieving the fathers we needed. Many of us are grieving both. Whatever your relationship to the fatherline, you are welcome.
What to Expect
Our time together will include:
- Guided meditation to help us arrive and settle into the space
- Moving grief through expression, gentle journaling and letter-writing prompts exploring our relationships with fathers, father figures, and the fatherline
- A simple embodied practice using breath and voice to help move grief beyond words
- A blessing ritual honoring what we carry, what we release, and what we choose to pass forward
- Compassionate witnessing, shared reflections, and community support
You are invited to participate in whatever way feels most supportive for you. Sharing is always optional.
Come as you are. Bring what you carry. You will not be alone in it <3
Participants are invited to bring:
• Photo(s) or object representing who/what you are grieving, honoring, remembering (optional)
• A journal/pen
