A lecture and yoga practice
Begin your journey into the foundational teachings of yoga with the Yamas—the first limb of the eight-limbed path as outlined in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The yamas offer guidance on how we show up in the world and interact with others, forming an ethical framework rooted in compassion, honesty, moderation, and non-attachment.
In this session, we’ll explore each of the five yamas:
• Ahimsa – nonviolence
• Satya – truthfulness
• Asteya – non-stealing
• Brahmacharya – non-excess
• Aparigraha – non-possessiveness
Through thoughtful lecture and a gentle yoga practice, we’ll begin to embody these teachings and notice how they can shift our everyday choices. Bring your mat, notebook, and pen as we lay the groundwork for these teachings to take shape both on and off the mat.
This workshop stands beautifully on its own, and also complements the Niyamas workshop if you choose to join us for both.
