The Dumpling Club: Screening and Discussion

Join us for a community movie night! We will be watching The Dumpling Club , followed by a panel discussion with the director, Zulian Tjuatja, other cast members, and more.
The Dumpling Club follows Siwei in the aftermath of his parents' death. While grieving his parents, Siwei takes an old family cookbook to a local Chinese class to assist with translations.

Speakers:
Zulian Tjuatja
Born and raised in Texas to Chinese Indonesian parents, Zulian’s worldview has been informed by the intersections of his diverse life experiences. As an adult, in addition to his native US, he has lived across South America, Europe, and East Asia. Burnout from a finance career and a failed attempt at becoming a novelist brought him to film. His all-time favorite filmmakers include Edward Yang, Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Robert Bresson.
