The rules are simple:
Each round is a best of three
between two poets
After combatants
Let loose their 5-7-5s
The audience vote
Best of three, meaning
Loss does not equal defeat
Like sun after rain
The first round? Freeform!
Bring your own finely crafted
Haiku to the stage
The second round? Pair!
Read two Haiku back to back
Double your word’s space
The third round is themed!
Out of seven themes below
We will ask for three:
Seasons, Hope, Fire,
Sex, Geese, Green, and Aberdeen
Chosen at random
As each round begins
So prepare seven Haiku
Or take the gamble
The final round? Same
As the first, pure and simple
Write any Haiku
The winner receives
