were a 1990s indie-rock band formed in Honolulu in 1989, later based in Boston, known for blending alternative rock with electric violin-driven, often danceable, melodies. Key members included Dave Derby (vocals/bass), Eric Masunaga (guitar), Kevin March (drums), and Joan Wasser (violin/vocals). They released several albums, including Encendedor (1994) featuring the hit "Shrine," before disbanding in 1998.
is an indie rock band originally formed at NYU in 1989 by Rachael McNally and Chris O’Rourke. Known for their melodic, unpretentious songwriting and roots in pre-grunge indie rock, the band built a devoted following through 1990s releases on labels like Slumberland and Homestead while touring the U.S. and Europe alongside groups such as Yo La Tengo and Polvo. Now based in the Boston area with longtime member Derek van Beever, Sleepyhead continue to craft warm, guitar-driven songs that blend classic indie rock with touches of ’70s country-rock. Their forthcoming album New Alchemy, recorded at Q Division with producer Jon Lupfer, marks the band’s sixth full-length release.
is a roots-driven ensemble built around vivid storytelling, rich harmonies, and a wide-ranging instrumental palette. Led by songwriter Dave Englund, the band blends Americana, folk, and country traditions with unexpected textures—from Irish bouzouki and pedal steel to accordion and fiddle. With players who move effortlessly between driving grooves and cinematic atmospheres, their songs turn everyday moments into memorable narratives, delivered with warmth, musicianship, and a spirit that feels both timeless and fresh.
