About this Event
After ten years of supporting innovative businesses to find their way into rail, our anniversary event will look beyond the usual question of how to start innovating – and explore what happens when an innovative business grows.
We’ll be exploring how organisations maintain the agility, creativity and ambition that drive early success, how to scale without losing the culture that made your company innovative in the first place, and the role of leadership, people and organisational culture in sustaining innovation through growth and change.
Speakers
We’ll hear directly from businesses and leaders who have been through that journey. One Big Circle will share its experience of growing from a start-up into an established rail technology business, with Co-founder and Director Emily Kent joined by Anna Coates, Natalie Lauraine and Matthew Weatherburn for a conversation about the realities of scaling while retaining the spark that drove the business in the first place.
Centre for Teams will then explore the people and leadership dimensions of growth – how organisations create the conditions in which innovation can continue to thrive, and will be joined by Stephen Tomkins, Managing Director, Balfour Beatty Vinci on HS2 Major Projects, who brings a major-project perspective to the discussion.
We’ll finish with a fireside conversation looking at what these lessons mean for the wider rail sector and what needs to change if we are to sustain innovation over the next decade, considering the discussions and drawing on the themes from the group's research: 10 Years of Innovation: From Entry Barriers to Scaled Impact, download here.
