The Stockport Art Guild and Stockport Photographic Society have recently collaborated on a series of events, inspiring members of both organisations to explore the relationship between art and photography.
As a result, several members of the Stockport Photographic Society have begun examining the similarities and differences between these two creative disciplines. Do they share the same objectives, or do they serve different purposes? We'll compare and contrast their aims, the equipment they use, and the techniques and processes that bring ideas to life.
You may be surprised to discover just how much artistry is involved in photography. We'll demonstrate a range of creative methods and techniques that can help transform a photograph into a work of art.
Through a selection of inspiring examples, we'll explore how photography can imitate art, how artists incorporate photography into their creative process, and how photographers use imagination and technique to create truly artistic images.
To round off the session, there's a fun quiz to test whether you can tell the difference between works of art and photographs.
