Every book starts the same way a good dinner does, with the willingness to sit down, drop the titles we hide behind, and tell the truth.
In The Table Where We Meet, Jess Janz outlines what happens when strangers stop performing and start speaking from who they actually are. This workshop is an invitation to do the same on the page.
You'll explore the questions that get under the surface of your own story, like:
What are you avoiding saying?
What would it mean to write like you're truly seen?
Who are you writing to?
Drawing on the same spirit that shapes her dinners, Jess will guide you through prompts and practices designed to move you past performance and into the honest, sometimes messy material your book is actually made of.
You'll leave with pages started, and a clearer sense of the book that's been waiting for you to write it.

Doors open at 5:30pm and close at 6:15pm. As this event will be streamed to live virtual audience, entry after 6:15pm will not be permitted.
Book Signing: A Meet & Greet with Jess will take place immediately after the workshop concludes. Books will be available for purchase via cash or Venmo after the event.
Parking: Street parking is available on Folsom Street and the surrounding blocks, both metered and unmetered. The nearest garage is about two blocks away on 8th street between Market and Mission street at the Trinity Parking Garage. Arrive a few minutes early to find a space, or consider a rideshare.
