The Art of Being Me - Art & Photography Workshop

Join us for a creative and confidence-building day of art, photography and self-expression, led by experienced Art Facilitator Sharkey.
This inspiring workshop encourages girls to celebrate what makes them unique through a combination of creative activities, photography and art. Throughout the day, we'll explore identity, confidence and positive self-image in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Working in small groups, participants will take turns photographing one another, learning simple photography techniques whilst building confidence, encouraging each other and having fun. Each girl will then choose a favourite photograph of herself to transform into a unique artwork using monoprinting and collage, creating a personal piece that celebrates her individuality, strengths and personality.
Everyone will take home their finished artwork as a special keepsake of the day.
What to Expect
Creative Activities
Enjoy hands-on art and photography activities designed to encourage creativity, self-expression and positive conversations.
Collaborative Photography
Working in small groups, participants will photograph one another, exploring simple techniques while creating positive portraits that celebrate individuality and confidence.
Creative Artwork
Using their chosen photograph as inspiration, participants will create a colourful mixed-media artwork through monoprinting and collage, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece to take home.
A Friendly and Supportive Environment
No previous experience in art or photography is needed. The workshop is designed to be inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable, with plenty of guidance throughout the day.
Why Attend?
With so much pressure from social media and unrealistic ideas about appearance, it can be difficult for young people to feel confident in themselves. This workshop offers a positive alternative, encouraging girls to celebrate their individuality, develop creative skills and see themselves in a new light.
By the end of the day, participants will have created a unique piece of artwork, learnt new creative techniques and, we hope, leave feeling inspired, more confident and proud of who they are.
