Nettle Papermaking Workshop
About this Event
Get Creative at the Nettle Papermaking Workshop!
Join us for a hands-on, in-person workshop where you'll learn the art of making beautiful paper from locally foraged nettles. This fun and eco-friendly experience is perfect for anyone interested in traditional crafts, sustainability, or simply trying something new.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Tithe Barn area, close to the river and canal, the workshop begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to preparing nettle fibres for papermaking. Don't worry—you won't get stung!
You'll then learn how to prepare pulp, use a mould and deckle frame to form your own sheets of paper, and experiment with a range of creative techniques, including lamination, stencil moulds, colour variations, and natural inclusions.
We'll also demonstrate pressing, drying, and sizing methods so you can confidently finish your paper at home. All materials used during the workshop are natural and sustainably sourced.
By the end of the session, you'll have the knowledge and skills to continue making paper at home, along with a digital handbook covering all the techniques explored during the day.
No experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and be prepared to get a little messy!
Please note, unfortunately we can't offer refunds on purchased tickets, but you are more than welcome to transfer to a friend or family member. We also need four people to attend, if we don't reach this number we will re-scehedule the workshop and offer a full refund. Thank you for your understanding.
