About this Event

A dynamic, research-driven workshop that equips students

with the skills to investigate and evaluate artists and artworks like a professional critic.

Blending independent inquiry with collaborative discussion, students will explore key concepts of the artist, artwork, world, and audience and learn to apply research frameworks and diverse viewpoints to investigate an artist’s practice and analyse an

Artwork.

The Art Critic’s Toolkit is designed for Year 9&10 Visual Arts students ready to strengthen their analytical art-writing skills. Through a blend of independent inquiry and collaborative discussion, students explore the relationships between artist, artwork, world and audience. They learn to apply research frameworks and multiple perspectives to investigate an artist’s practice and analyse artworks with clarity and confidence. Delivered by leading Visual Arts educator @Sarah Fordham Artist & Educator, this hands-on workshop uses rich sources, scaffolded writing tasks and a deep dive into the role of the art critic - equipping students with practical tools and confidence in art critical writing.
