About this Event
Dead trees are full of life! Join us at Fisher Farm for an in-person workshop on the critical role standing dead trees or “snags” play in providing vital wildlife habitat and supporting forest biodiversity. Learn how snags support wildlife as well as how to create them on your own property. Participants will get hands-on experience selecting ideal snag trees and various methods for creating them.
Please bring:
- Close-toed hiking/walking shoes (groups will be walking off trail on uneven terrain, up to 1 mile of walking total, likely closer to 0.5 miles)
- Clothing that’s comfortable for the outdoor weather conditions
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Water bottle (can be refilled on site)
- Gardening/leather work gloves
- Sunglasses or other eye protection
Optional items to bring:
- Hatchet
- Garden pruners/loppers
- Binoculars or bike for enjoying the property after the workshop concludes
- Personal snacks for before lunch
- Folding chair
