The Actors Academy Take 13
The mission of the Actors Academy is to awaken the imagination, emotion, and intellect of the student artist by making him/her aware of the transforming power and universality of performance arts; and the skills required to achieve excellence.
We provide a platform for directors, acting coaches, casting agents, producers, and filmmakers to teach the techniques needed to develop and sustain a great performing arts career.

Classes are held Saturdays from 2:00pm-4:00pm (July 18th, 25th, August 1st, 8th 2026)
July 18, 2026 - 2:00PM- 4:00PM
Class Title: Commercials
Director: Isaac Loyal
Class Description: This class explores the skills actors need to succeed in today’s commercial market, from understanding the audition process in major markets like New York and Los Angeles to navigating regional opportunities. Students will learn how to prepare for commercial auditions, perform commercial copy, and adapt to different commercial styles and genres. Through script readings, improvisation exercises, and hands-on practice with real commercial scripts, participants will gain the confidence and techniques needed to book commercial work.

Class Title: Verticals
Director: Desi Alexander
Class Description: One of the fastest-growing mediums in entertainment today is vertical storytelling. This class will examine how actors and creators can adapt their performances for short-form, mobile-first content while learning the unique techniques used in vertical productions. Students will discover how to develop compelling story ideas, direct and perform in vertical projects, and understand what makes content resonate with modern audiences on social media platforms.
August 1, 2026 - 2:00PM- 4:00PM
Class Title: Film
Director: Stephone Belton of D8 Cinema
Class Description: This class is designed to help actors master the unique techniques and nuances required for on-camera performance. Students will learn how to deliver authentic, compelling performances while understanding the technical demands of a film set, including camera awareness, continuity, and working efficiently with directors and crew. Through hands-on instruction and scene work, each participant will have the opportunity to perform and film a scene in class. The recorded scene will be edited and provided to students, giving them practical experience and valuable footage to review and learn from.
August 8, 2026 - 2:00PM- 4:00PM
Class Title: Stage
Director: Rosalyn Gaines
Class Description: This class examines the craft of live theatrical performance and the skills required to captivate an audience from the moment you step on stage. This class will cover vocal strength, physical expression, stage movement, and the presence needed to bring characters to life in a theatrical setting. Students will explore the differences between stage and on-camera acting while learning how to make bold choices, sustain energy throughout a performance, and effectively communicate with audiences in any size venue.
