Mathieu Geffré
After graduating from the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 2006, Mathieu Geffré enjoyed a 15-year international career as a performer, dancing across Europe with renowned companies such as Dansgroep Amsterdam, Noord Nederlandse Dans, and National Dance Company Wales. Throughout these years, he collaborated with some of the most acclaimed choreographers of his generation, including Itzik Galili, Johan Inger, Mark Baldwin, Christopher Bruce, and Angelin Preljocaj, among others.
Alongside his performing career, Mathieu developed his own choreographic practice, presenting works across numerous European stages. In 2016, his choreographic talent was recognised when he received the 3rd Prize for Choreography at the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. Building on this success, Mathieu launched Rendez-Vous dance in February 2021, a dance company dedicated to exploring and amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices and themes, committed to creating work that resonates both socially and emotionally with contemporary audiences.
In a remarkably short period, Rendez-Vous dance has become one of the most presented independent dance companies in the UK, presenting their work in 37 venues over the past three years. Their productions are in high demand and celebrated by both audiences and the press, establishing the company as a dynamic presence in the national dance landscape. The company’s inaugural production, What songs may do..., has achieved continuous success and was named the 3rd best dance production of 2024 by The Guardian following its presentation at the Edinburgh Fringe.
