About this Event

For Indigenous food sovereignty activist Jacob Beaton, the current reality of Indigenous food sovereignty has pushed him into action. In just 3 short years, Jacob has transformed his family farm into Tea Creek, an Indigenous Food Sovereignty training center with a mission to bring back the abundance that once defined Turtle Island. But for Jacob and his team, getting here has been hard fought. Faced with the impacts of colonization, accessing funding, the effects of the climate crisis and the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma, Jacob is constantly battling to keep Tea Creek afloat. Following Tea Creek through the growing season the film explores the rich history of Indigenous agriculture, the ongoing impacts of colonization and intimately portrays a passionate leader who’s vision for change is creating space for healing and abundance.

Everyone is welcome. There will be an audience Q&A discussion with local experts following the screening. Panelists will be announced as they are confirmed.
