Join us for a FREE guided rock pooling experience with Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust. Come and learn about the amazing world that exists within rockpools, some of the native species that call the rocky reef tidal zone home and how to protect this critical ecosystem!
This event provides a taster into rock pooling, rocky shore ecology AND citizen science! We will go over how to conduct marine metered squared surveys (MM2) and the data collected from the day will be uploaded to the national MM2 database.
Weather call: A weather call will be made the afternoon prior to the event via email, please keep an eye on your emails for updates.
Mountains to Sea runs a series of free and subsidised events - we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event.
Suitable for ages 5+. Children under 13 need adult supervision at all times.
Please note there will be uneven ground, walking over rocks and balancing. We can accommodate those who are unable to traverse over the rocks by bringing the rock pool critters to you! Please email [email protected] if this option is required.

What to bring: Suitable footwear for exploring the rocky shore (covered shoes, gumboots, or reef shoes are recommended), sunhat, warm clothes, rain jacket, drink bottle and snacks.
Cancellation policy: If you can no longer attend this event please cancel your registration through eventbrite or email the event organiser [email protected] with at least 24hrs notice. This ensures people on the waitlist can be offered your spot and nobody misses out.
