Tackling the Plastic Tide
About this Event
Join us at Shoreham Port for a laid-back, in-person presentation about fighting plastic pollution on our beaches. Hear about the evolution of the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme and the subsequent launch of the aquatic plastic litter recycling charity ReAP UK. The talk will then focus on the scale and impact of commercial and recreational fishing related litter on Sussex beaches, its route to recycling, and showcase the innovative products plastic litter can be made into.
The Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme, in conjunction with ReAP UK, works together with local beach clean groups in Sussex to recover, record and recycle marine plastic litter alongside a national scheme to recycle used fishing line in the UK.
Meet your speaker
Steve Tapp, Co-Founder & Lead Volunteer, Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme/ Co-Founder & Trustee, ReAP UK
Lifelong angler along the Sussex coast, Steve is passionate about preserving the marine environment he is privileged to enjoy. He was instrumental, with other anglers, in introducing fishing line recycling to the UK and the launch of the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme in 2018. The project evolved into combatting angling related litter and working with local beach clean groups to recycle commercial and recreational fishing litter. As co-founder and trustee of ReAP UK, he works with anglers collecting and recycling all plastic litter from beach and river cleans in the south of England.
