Shoreham Port Boat Tour
About this Event
Join Shoreham Port Harbour Master Julian Seaman (MNM) on a guided tour of Shoreham Port in thier all-new electric workboat, aptly named Electra. During the tour, you will learn what goes on across the Port and why, viewing different areas of the Port from the water and learning more about its history and ambitions for a Sustainable future - with an opportunity to ask questions throughout.
With a charging time of 8 hours, as well as solar capacity, supporting a full 8-hour working day, and a top speed of 8 Knots, Electra demonstrates the progress electric technology is making on the water, within a fast-paced, operational environment. Enabling the Marine Team to completely decarbonise their canal patrols, Electra marks another exciting step in the Port's journey to net zero. Step aboard to find out more!
Primarily a working boat, Electra will be temporarily fitted out with seating to accommodate 8 passengers per trip. Please be aware that one ticket will book you one seat on a shared boat trip.
The £3 cost of your ticket will be donated to the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme. Learn more about the impact your donation will have in keeping our marine environment clean and free from litter in their free talk on Friday 26 June at 9.15am. Book your free ticket here.
Suitable for ages 5+. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please meet in the Port Kitchen terrace where you will be taken to the boat launch site. Please ensure you allow plenty of time to get to where you need to be, we recommend arriving 15 minutes before the advertised start time, and ensure you join the correct tour as there are several taking place over the week.

More information
We welcome visitors to the Port to come and experience our unique environment and learn more about us. While enjoying your time here, please be aware that this is a working Port and moving vehicles, uneven ground and deep water all feature within our footprint.
Please be careful as you explore; keep away from the water’s edge and bear the weather conditions in mind. While here you must follow any instructions provided by our team, and stay on marked walkways at all times.
Please make sure you wear suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
How to get here
With sustainability in mind, we are a short walk from the train station at Southwick, right on the Stagecoach 700 bus route, and have a lot of room for cycles. If you choose to drive, there are a limited number of parking spaces available at Shoreham Port, including disabled spaces.
We ask that attendees ensure to allow plenty of time to get to where you need to be, for most events we would advise arriving 10 minutes before the advertised start time. There is no need to print tickets, please just give your name to a member of the team at the entrance.
