The extended hold of Yin Yoga poses apply moderate pressure to the connective tissues- the tendons, fascia, and ligaments restoring elasticity and flexibility. On an energetic level, Yin enhances the flow of prana (life force) in the tissues around the joints where energy often stagnates, resulting in better organ health and a stronger immune system. Most postures are seated and are held longer than normal as you find your appropriate edge. A Yin practice conditions the tissue to be more elastic. You'll work through postures to create an opening in your body that you have never known allowing you to get deeper in your poses.

In the stillness of holding the poses in a relaxed fashion gives the chance to receive Reiki from the teacher. Reiki is a relaxation technique that induces a state of peace and joy in the body, mind and spirit. It is so relaxing that just one hour of treatment can be equivalent to four hours of sleep. While Reiki mainly focuses on the subtler levels of being such as emotional and spiritual aspects, it can bring deep balance to the physical body.

The style of Reiki that will be given is Holy Fire III Usui and Karuna Reiki.

Each student will receive generous doses of individual Reiki from Jerry. Treating multiple parts of the body to create physical and energetic balance, this deep inner healing is further supported by the soothing properties of Healing Crystals.

You are more than welcome to bring a special item to place on the altar we will be building in the center of the room. This will help you to carry out the loving energy of the class after it is over as well as contribute your own special energies to the group. Examples include: crystals, jewelry, pictures of loved ones.

About our presenter:
Jerry Mikutis is a yoga and Reiki teacher who has been enthralled by yoga ever since her first class in 2005 as a means for mental clarity from the stresses of life. The sense of peace the practice cultivated kept her coming back to the mat and the physical benefits soon made themselves evident. Her yoga practice eventually leads her to subtle practices such as Reiki and other methods of energy balancing.
She is a teacher of Usui Holy Fire III Reiki and Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki. She is a member of the Reiki Membership Association and has taken Reiki classes with various teachers in the Chicago area as well as traveling to continue her education with Reiki Masters William Lee Rand in Glastonbury, England and Michael Baird and Laurelle Shanti Gaia in Arizona to further her knowledge and connection with the Holy Fire III Reiki energies. She shares dynamic healing techniques that soothe emotional distress and balance your body’s natural energy. She offers Usui Holy Fire III Reiki Placements – Beginners to Master Level Certifications. She nurtures her Reiki students into becoming confident healers.
