The trail to Lila Lake is the very language of summer in the Washington high country: granite ridges, blue sky wide as a cathedral ceiling, and alpine lakes cupped like jewels between mountains. The approach is long enough to settle into a rhythm — conversation comes and goes, footsteps soften, the day opens like a story being told.
We’ll climb to Rachel Lake first — a classic in its own right — and then continue upward into open country, where the peaks present themselves in vast, layered panorama. Lila Lake rests like a secluded chalice of sky and stone. If the sunlight is warm, you may hear your name whispered by the water — the invitation to wade in, even if just ankle-deep.
Bring lunch, layers for the ridge wind, and plenty of water. This is a summer day in the alpine, simple and profound.
Afterward, we’ll gather at Dru Bru at Snoqualmie Pass for a refreshing beer or hot cocoa — sitting picnic-table-style with tired legs and full hearts, mountain air still clinging to us.

We'll meet in the north parking lot at the Green Lake Park and Ride next to the bus stop on 65th and directly under the I-5 freeway at 7 am. Since we are heading east, we can also stop off at the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse at 7:30 am to either pick up additional riders or further coordinate rideshares. Rideshare for the day is $21 per person from the Green Lake Park and Ride and $17 per person from the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse, and is paid to the driver of the vehicle.
Green Lake Park and Ride: 7 am, $21
Eastgate Outback Steakhouse: 7:30 am, $17
Our estimated time of arrival at the trailhead is: 8:45 am
Yes, there are two separate fees regarding this event. The event fee, and then a rideshare if you are riding as a passenger with a driver.
