July 21, 2026: Wildlife Bridge Engineers
Host: Jessica Purcell
Info: Did you know engineers design bridges just for animals?
In this creative engineering challenge, students will step into the role of civil engineers and wildlife conservationists as they design and build a working wildlife bridge that helps animals safely cross a busy highway.
After exploring different types of bridges and reading Iggy Peck, Architect, students will plan, sketch, and construct their own bridge using real engineering principles. Their designs must support multiple animals, allow cars to pass underneath, and even be camouflaged to blend into the environment!
This session blends STEM + sustainability + creativity in a way kids absolutely love.
Students Will Take Home:
Their completed wildlife bridge
Engineering notebook + blueprint
“Junior Civil Engineer” certificate
