Summer Solstice Gathering with the Mamos & Zagas
About this Event
We invite you to a rare and profound gathering on the Summer Solstice Portal—a sacred turning point in the Earth’s cycle, when the sun reaches its fullest expression of light. For millennia, this day has been honored across cultures as a time of illumination, renewal, and deep connection between humanity and the natural world.
It is a moment when light reveals what has been hidden, when intentions are amplified, and when we are called into greater alignment with the rhythms of the Earth.
During this powerful time, we will gather with the Mamos and Zagas—the spiritual leaders of the Kogi, Wiwa, Arhuaco, and Kankuama peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia.
These Elders belong to what is known as the Tezhuna—one of the few Indigenous groups in the Americas who evaded the Spanish Conquest by retreating deep into the Sierra Nevada mountains. Because of this, they have preserved an unbroken lineage of spiritual and cultural wisdom for thousands of years, rooted in the ancient Tayrona civilization.
The Mamos (male Elders) and Zagas (female priestesses) are trained from early childhood in sacred ceremony, healing, divination, and planetary stewardship. They live in service to what they call “Earth’s Original Law”—the understanding that humanity holds a sacred responsibility to protect, nourish, and maintain balance within the natural world.
Their role is not only to care for their own lands, but to help restore harmony across the Earth by sharing these teachings and awakening greater global consciousness.
Why the Summer Solstice Matters
The Summer Solstice is more than a celestial event—it is a living doorway. A time when the light is at its peak, illuminating both the outer world and our inner landscape.
According to Indigenous understanding, moments like these create powerful openings where prayer, intention, and ceremony can influence the energetic balance of the planet. To gather in ceremony on this day is to align with a natural amplification of light, clarity, and transformation.
Why This Gathering Matters Now
We are living in a time of profound imbalance—environmentally, socially, and spiritually. The teachings of the Mamos and Zagas remind us that what we experience in the outer world reflects our relationship with the Earth and with one another. This gathering is an invitation to participate in restoring that balance.
Together, we will experience:
- Ancestral teachings and storytelling rooted in deep ecological wisdom
- Sacred ceremony and offerings for the Earth and our waterways
- Energetic healing and blessings for individuals and the collective
- Music and vibration to harmonize body, mind, and spirit
The Elders will share in their native language (primarily Spanish), with full English translation provided throughout the day.
This is not a passive experience. Your presence is part of the work.
