Summer Sewing Socials
About this Event
Always wanted to learn how to sew but never knew where to start?
Are you curious about sewing?
Are you looking for a different creative experience, something intentional, fun, and outside your usual routine?
Then Summer Sewing Social is for you.
Summer Sewing Social is a beginner-friendly sewing workshop in Toronto designed to help you take the first step in a relaxed, supportive, and social environment.
This hands-on workshop is designed to make sewing feel less intimidating and more accessible. You’ll learn the basics of using a sewing machine while making your own gathered skirt with an elasticated waistband. The project has the right level of complexity to help you feel challenged but supported, and you’ll leave with something you can actually wear.
You’ll be guided step by step, with support along the way, so you can focus on learning, creating, and enjoying the process.
What you’ll learn
✂️ A practical skill that can save you money on simple adjustments and future alterations
✂️ How to safely and confidently use a sewing machine
✂️ How to select the best fabric for a beginner-friendly sewing project
✂️ How to take the right measurements for your project
✂️ How to cut your fabric, create gathers, and insert an elasticated waistband
✂️ How to sew an in-seam pocket
✂️ How to construct a complete skirt from start to finish
What you’ll make
A gathered skirt with an elasticated waistband, handmade by you.
You’ll leave with a wearable piece, a new creative skill, and the confidence to say, “I made this.”
