Saturday, July 11, please join us for our FREE Summer Improvised Music Series to be held in the gardens of the Joshua Tree Arts & Ecology Center at 6836 Mount Lassen Ave. (Across the Street and a bit north of Harrison House.)
Each concert will begin with a Communal Sound Circle at 7pm (improvisation open to all) in our 'sunken circle', followed by an 8pm curated small group performance with guest musicians. As a bonus we will have a farm stand with fresh eggs from our own chickens and other farm goodies available by donation!
Greggor plays trumpet, flugelhorn and voice through an array of electronic effects.
Under the moniker Lowend, four solo albums have been self-released at lowend3g.bandcamp.com. Greggor has also released two albums as a member of GrGr, an improvised ambient duo with Grant Capes. Grgr11.bandcamp.com
Barry Sexton is a guitarist, keyboardist and composer from Costa Mesa, CA. His sensitive, atmospheric and sometimes epic guitar playing can be found in many projects across genre lines, including ambient collaborations, space rock bands, and diy funk collectives. He produces his own solo compositions as Georgie’s Paper Boat, a diverse project influenced by neoclassical composition, sentimental ambience, bedroom pop, and colorful film scores.
Jazmine Alameddine is a musician, educator, producer and songwriter based in Orange County, CA. As a woodwind player, her alto saxophone, flute, and clarinet playing can be heard with Odem Medo, Stereo Soul Movement, Entwined, Ritual Ashing, Tired Already, and InTents.
Aeon Jung is a shadowy free rock duo that practices in a shipping container out in Wonder Valley, CA. After 10 years of improvising together, Danny Hiza-Hong (drums) and Ash Ingalls (strings) use their developing musical vocabulary to kinetically explore sonic dreamscapes embracing the radical possibilities of the chaotic unknown.
For the 7pm Communal Sound Circle, bring your own ears, voice, and acoustic (or battery-powered) instruments. Rather than a jam session, the goal is to practice relational listening with the environment and each other. All are welcome and encouraged to participate, regardless of musical or improvisational experience.
This summer Improvised Music Series is curated by Ash Ingalls who wanders many pathways of music through their work as an improviser, recording artist, radio DJ, and independent researcher. He is also founder of Searching Records, a cassette label presenting a wide spectrum of improvised music from both the local and international community and the co-site manager of Joshua Tree Arts & Ecology Center.
