Subject Enhancement - Time (PS3/4)

Mae pob dysgwr yn haeddu mynediad at addysgu mathemateg o ansawdd uchel gan ymarferwyr hyderus a gwybodus. Er bod ysgolion yn ymdrechu i sicrhau bod mathemateg yn cael ei haddysgu gan athrawon pwnc cymwys, nid yw hyn bob amser yn bosibl. O ganlyniad, mae Abertawe wedi ymrwymo i gefnogi athrawon sy’n dymuno datblygu eu gwybodaeth bynciol a’u dealltwriaeth addysgegol o feysydd allweddol mathemateg a rhifedd.

Mae’r rhaglen dysgu proffesiynol hon wedi’i chynllunio ar gyfer athrawon a fyddai’n elwa ar gymorth ychwanegol i ddatblygu eu hyder, eu harbenigedd pwnc a’u dealltwriaeth o gynnydd mewn cysyniadau mathemategol penodol. Eleni, bydd y rhaglen yn canolbwyntio ar dair thema allweddol:

1. Trionglau Ongl Sgwâr – Theorem Pythagoras a Thrigonometreg (CS4/5)
2. Gemau Siawns a Thebygolrwydd (CS3/4)
3. Amser (CS2/3/4)

Athrawon mathemateg ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd sydd am gryfhau eu gwybodaeth bynciol, datblygu eu gwybodaeth addysgegol-gynnwys, a chynyddu eu hyder wrth addysgu agweddau penodol ar y cwricwlwm mathemateg.

Bydd pob sesiwn yn:

• archwilio sut mae dealltwriaeth dysgwyr yn datblygu drwy’r camau cynnydd;
• cryfhau gwybodaeth bynciol a dealltwriaeth cyfranogwyr o gysyniadau mathemategol allweddol;
• ystyried dulliau addysgu a strategaethau dosbarth effeithiol;
• nodi a mynd i’r afael â chamsyniadau cyffredin ymhlith dysgwyr;
• rhannu enghreifftiau ymarferol o gyfleoedd asesu y gellir eu defnyddio i lywio addysgu a chefnogi cynnydd;
• darparu adnoddau ac ymagweddau y gellir eu haddasu i’w defnyddio yn y dosbarth.

Bydd cyfranogwyr yn gadael pob sesiwn gyda dealltwriaeth ddyfnach o’r cynnwys mathemategol, mwy o hyder wrth addysgu’r pwnc, ac ystod o syniadau ac ymagweddau ymarferol i gefnogi dysgu ac addysgu o ansawdd uchel.

Every learner deserves access to high-quality mathematics teaching delivered by confident and knowledgeable practitioners. While schools strive to ensure that all mathematics lessons are taught by qualified subject specialists, this is not always possible. Swansea is therefore committed to supporting teachers and practitioners who wish to strengthen their subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding of key areas of mathematics and numeracy.

This professional learning programme is designed for teachers who would benefit from additional support in developing their confidence, subject expertise and understanding of progression within specific mathematical concepts. The programme will focus on three key areas:

1. Right-Angled Triangles – Pythagoras’ Theorem and Trigonometry (PS4/5)
2. Games of Chance and Probability (PS3/4)
3. Time (PS2/3/4)

Primary and Secondary school mathematics teachers seeking to further develop their subject knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and confidence in teaching specific areas of the mathematics curriculum.

Each session will:

• explore how learners’ understanding develops across the progression steps;
• strengthen participants’ subject knowledge and understanding of key concepts;
• consider effective teaching approaches and classroom strategies;
• identify and address common misconceptions encountered by learners;
• share practical examples of assessment opportunities that can be used to inform teaching and support progression;
• provide resources and approaches that can be adapted for use in participants’ own classrooms.

Participants will leave each session with a clearer understanding of the mathematical content, greater confidence in teaching the topic, and practical ideas to support high-quality learning and teaching.
