Mae’r sesiwn ddysgu broffesiynol hanner diwrnod hon wedi’i chynllunio i gryfhau dealltwriaeth ymarferwyr o ffoneg systematig fel rhan allweddol o ddatblygiad llythrennedd cynnar. Bydd yn archwilio sut mae plant yn dysgu darllen a sillafu, y berthynas rhwng dadgodio ac amgodio, a sut i sicrhau cynnydd drwy addysgu ffoneg effeithiol a chyson. Bydd y sesiwn hefyd yn ystyried sut i integreiddio ffoneg yn ystyrlon o fewn dysgu seiliedig ar chwarae a chyd-destunau dilys, fel bod plant yn cymhwyso eu sgiliau drwy brofiadau iaith cyfoethog a gweithgareddau pwrpasol. Overview
This half-day professional learning session is designed to strengthen practitioners’ understanding of systematic phonics as a key part of early literacy development. It will explore how children learn to read and spell, the relationship between decoding and encoding, and how to secure progression through effective and consistent phonics teaching. The session will also consider how phonics can be meaningfully integrated within play-based learning and authentic contexts, so that children apply their skills through rich language experiences and purposeful activities. The content aligns with Curriculum for Wales and local literacy priorities.
Target Audience
Teaching practitioners, Literacy Leads and Foundation Learning Leads. This session is for Swansea school employees only.
Session aims
To develop secure subject knowledge of how children learn to read and spell; strengthen understanding of the principles of systematic phonics and their consistent application in practice; and consider how to integrate phonics within purposeful play and authentic contexts to support progression in early reading and writing.
