Who: Parents & their Children ages 11-15

Does your child avoid leaning into difficult or challenging circumstances? Do they shy away from activities where they might struggle? In today’s fast-paced world, children face challenges that are unique to this generation, making mental and emotional resilience more critical than ever.

This event is designed to help both parents/caregivers and their children discover how to embrace challenges and build resilience—mentally and physically!

• For Parents: Participate in a collaborative, research-based workshop led by our resident lead instructor and licensed school counselor with over 20 years of experience. This interactive session will focus on evidence-based strategies to help your child develop the fortitude to face difficulties with confidence and build mental toughness. You’ll engage in collaborative sharing and breakout discussions with other parents, learning practical ways to foster resilience and help your child overcome avoidant behaviors.
• For Youth: While parents learn about resilience strategies, children will have the opportunity to learn directly from our team of self-defense instructors and participate in a unique self-defense class. They will not only receive physical instruction on techniques but will also engage in "mat chats" interwoven with collaborative discussions and object lessons designed to help them explore what it means to have strength and be resilient on and off the mats. This high-energy workshop will serve as an introduction to Krav Maga and self-defense—equipping them with tools to continue the conversation with parents at home and develop their own plan for resilience.

At the end of the event, our goal is for parents and children to discuss what they have learned and create a set of goals together, allowing them to thrive both on and off the mats.
