As Strathcarron Hospice marks its 45th anniversary, we invite you to explore a perhaps unexpected aspect of hospice work: community development.

Strathcarron Hospice’s Compassionate Communities team is bringing together community development practitioners, policy makers, academics, third-sector organisations and community partners to examine what a hospice-led approach to community development can look like.

• This is a free, invitation-focused professional event.
• A light lunch, tea and coffee will be available from 1pm.
• The formal programme begins at 1.30pm and concludes at approximately 4pm, followed by networking until 5pm.

Workshops may include:

Community Leadership – Fallin Community Voice discuss growing local capacity to create more compassionate communities

• Grief and Community Development – Key Housing and Compassionate Communities discuss how to create inclusive community spaces
• Ripple Mapping stories – the Compassionate Communities team discuss the importance of personal connection and ‘ripple mapping’ as a way of capturing this
• Games and community development – Pauline Cavanagh, CACE, and the Compassionate Communities team discuss the value of games in addressing difficult conversations

Through presentations, discussion and interactive workshops, attendees will have an opportunity to share their own perspectives, consider how these approaches could be adopted or supported more widely, and explore the potential for future collaboration and a Compassionate Communities network.
