The Future Book by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Shawn Harris is a humorous picture book that imagines a future with bizarre linguistic and social changes, like calling bananas "apples" and responding to sneezes with "forgive me, Susan". It uses absurd, futuristic customs to playfully explore how language and norms evolve, while still showing that core human experiences remain the same.
