Story Telling Workshop
About this Event
You will learn how to make a short piece that you can expand on—that you can make into an audio story, share on your business website, publish as is, or make into a short legacy film.
Join Hanan Daqqa for a 2-hour storytelling workshop designed for family members who want to preserve a family story for the next generation. This workshop is inspired by the course Hanan teaches at George Washington University, called “Not Another Home Movie.” You will walk away with a draft of a family story that will include a conflict and resolution, and reveal the wisdom behind the story.
The event will start with a brief film screening of award-winning films about family to offer inspiration, followed by brainstorming activities and prompts, a collage exercise, and a writing session.
You don’t have to be a writer or an artist to write your memoir—just be yourself.
Are you still unsure? Here’s why it matters: we cannot evolve and become who we really are unless we understand what has happened to us. And we cannot understand until we tell that story. In the process of telling the story, new doors open.
