About this Event
Nowadays, we watch movies in the air-conditioned comfort of a cinema. But did you know that once upon a time, you could watch movies out in the street? Artist Chua Mia Tee created an artwork based on his memories of watching movies at portable street carts in Chinatown, where he lived as a child. Portable cinemas like the one in the banner were very popular in Singapore in the 1950s.
Join us for a storytelling session about the vanishing trades in Singapore that were common during the 1950s to 1970s. This programme is suitable for children aged 7–12. Children should be accompanied by their parents.
About the storyteller:
Mabel has been telling stories professionally since 2000. She especially enjoys telling Asian stories to young and old to portray the diversity of the Asian culture.
