Spork! Poetry Open Mic at Chococo

Join us for another night of poetry, spoken-word & sweet treats at Chococo on Gandy Street. Just like a regular Spork! but more chilled, and much more chocolatey. With feature sets from 2 incredible local artists (Peter Farrie & Hannah Walker) a mini open mic, and (of course) delicious hot chocolates, soft drinks and other refreshments available from the café. Plus some free samples! All hosted by Chris Milky White
Peter Farrie is a songwriter and performer based in Exeter with an MA in Songwriting from ICMP London. He writes funny and sometimes heartfelt songs and has featured at beloved local nights from Taking the Mic at Exeter Phoenix to Word Stir! in Totnes. His latest single is called ‘Budleigh Salterton’.
“Peter Farrie’s songs and performance style are a gentle quirky joy, delicately funny, super moving and deeply engaging. I could watch him for hours…. but not in a creepy way.” - Ceri Baker, ex-Bard of Exeter
Hannah Walker is a regular face at our Spork! open mics, a neurodivergent speaker and poet based in Somerset. Author of “Mess is Progress” and “Belly Button Champagne Pools”. A self confessed chaotic creative or creator of chaos; an honest, (probably chronic) over-sharer who says it exactly how it is.
Please note, this event will take place upstairs at Chococo, which is only accessible via 1 flight of stairs, with the toilet also located on the first floor. This is an alcohol free event, but the café at Chococo will be open all night and selling their usual range of delicious hot drinks, soft drinks and sweet treats.
The event is adult orientated, with an age guidance of 14+.
Tickets are £7.50, with a £5 self selecting concession rate.
Want to Compete in the Open Mic?
Open Mic Tickets are £3. There will be a maximum of 7 open mic performers. Limited spaces available. First come, first served. Open Micers have a maximum of 4 mins or 1 poem each. For any questions about taking part, give us an email on [email protected]
