About this Event

We all have a story. What happens when we give ourselves the space to put it into words?

Join us on Venice Beach for an intimate Spoken Word Experience bringing together storytelling, live performance, creative writing and community.

We’ll begin with Nekeith, recording artist, songwriter, actor, public speaker and GRAMMY Voting Member, sharing her story and the inspiration behind her newly released spoken-word album, My Trans Experience, followed by a live performance of selected pieces from the project.

Through storytelling and spoken word, Nekeith brings her experiences to life in an intimate setting designed for listening, reflection and connection.

Then, the pen is in your hands. ✍️

Nekeith and X. ARI will co-lead an interactive creative writing workshop where you’ll learn how to turn your own story into a spoken-word piece, no matter your writing experience.

Whether you’ve been writing for years or have never written spoken word before, we’ll guide you through the process with simple tools, creative prompts and space to explore your voice.

There’s no “right” way to write spoken word, and this experience is designed for all levels.

Once we’ve put pen to paper, we’ll open the floor for anyone who wants to share or perform what they created in a supportive, encouraging group environment.

Sharing is always optional. You can perform your piece, read a few lines, cheer someone else on or simply listen and take it all in.

One artist’s story becomes an invitation to explore your own.

Come as you are. Leave inspired, connected & empowered. 💚
