About this Event

This one is special. It falls during the Lion's Gate Portal, when the Sun moves through Leo and Sirius rises into alignment. Spiritual traditions have long recognized this as a time of heightened intuition, courage, and transformation. It is also, fittingly, Sekhmet's season, and Isis is close by too. The ancient Egyptians associated her with the rising of Sirius itself, and her energy is especially potent right now.

Barbara last pilgrimage to Egypt was years ago now, but the experience she had in Sekhmet's sacred chamber has never left her. Sekhmet’s energy is still profound for her today and she want to share that with you, along with everything she’s learned about her and the other gods and goddesses. In this special tour Barbara will prepare you to receive her power during this potent window.

This is a spiritual pilgrimage, not a typical museum visit. What makes it different is simple: you will be paying attention to how these objects affect your body and spirit.

The Met's Ancient Egyptian collection holds pieces thousands of years old. You are an ancient being too, so don't be surprised if certain objects, symbols, or pieces of jewelry “light you up.” You might feel something heavy or excited in your stomach, your abdomen, the top of your head. You will be encouraged to notice these sensations as we walk through the exhibits, and we'll stop as a group along the way to share what we're feeling and sensing.

The heart of this tour is Sekhmet. We'll stand together in front of her statue, the lion headed goddess of healing and transformation, and I'll guide us through an initiation into her power. Her courage. Her fierce compassion. Her protection. Her ability to help us release what no longer serves us. This is what the Lion's Gate is all about.

We'll also meet the wider world of ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses, especially Isis, whose star is rising with us this week. A room of papyrus holding spells from the Book of the Dead. What it meant to them to live a good life. You might even catch a glimpse of your ancient self in a 6,000-year-old mirror.

We'll keep this a tight group of 6 to 10 people, so space is limited.

What the recent participants are saying:
“Oh my, that was one of my best days in NYC! I loved loved the pilgrimage to the Met with you. It was rich with spiritual experiences, meaning and relevant information that I was genuinely fascinated by. Your communication style was clear, gentle, humble, accessible and meaningful. I am so grateful, thank you!”
—Martha L.
“With Barbara as my guide, I saw the Met’s Egyptian collection with fresh eyes and truly felt transported—temporally, spiritually, even cosmically. Our morning together left me with so much to chew on—ancient rituals and spiritual beliefs, history, mystery, and she introduced me to my new favorite deity. It was an incredible, lasting experience! The joy and inspiration has stayed with me.”
—John
“Thank you Barbara, for an informative, heart centered and interesting tour through the Egyptian wing of the met! It was fascinating and helpful to hear how highly the Egyptians valued a light heart when leaving this life. Thank you for pointing out the Book of the Dead Papyrus and some of what it contained! Also learning about the goddess Sekhmet as a healer and protector, was fascinating. Thank you also for the solar plexus chakra practice! I am still meditating on many things you taught us about this ancient culture.”
—Much Gratitude, Demitra V.I loved this tour of the Egyptian wing. As a New Yorker who frequently visits the Met Museum, I often walk through and quickly look at the Egyptian artifacts. However on Barbara's tour I saw things I have never noticed or took the time to consider. It was enlightening to look at the exhibition in a new way. I definitely plan on going back to revisit some of the pieces we spent time with. I also plan on experiencing Barbara's spiritual tours again. Highly recommend her spirituality in the city tours for New Yorkers and people visiting the city!—Andrea Renaud
