Satuday afternoon we spin ELO's dazzling double LP, Out of the Blue! This masterpiece includes hits like "Mr. Blue Sky" and "Turn to Stone," alongside the iconic "Concerto for a Rainy Day." Join us to experience Jeff Lynne's symphonic rock and futuristic pop as intended: on vinyl!
Released in 1977, Out of the Blue is the pinnacle of ELO's extravagant vision, successfully blending rock instrumentation with lush, cinematic orchestration and sci-fi themes. This ambitious double album, with its famed flying saucer cover art, is a joyous journey through four distinct sides of music, culminating in the cohesive and brilliant suite on Side Three.
Join us at The Listyning Room for a deep, communal listening experience where every layer of strings, vocal harmony, and classic rock groove is revealed on our state-of-the-art sound system featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Klipsch, and Cambridge Audio.
We begin with a brief introduction and then play through of the full album. We open on Saturdays at 1:00 pm for Open Spin (BYO music) and record cleaning. The feature LP spins at 4:00pm.
