On April 15, 1874, in the studio of the renowned photographer Nadar on the Boulevard des Capucines in Paris, a group of young artists presented their work outside the official Salon for the very first time. Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Pissarro, Sisley, and Cézanne took a bold step that would mark the beginning of one of the most influential artistic movements in history: Impressionism.
The Birth of Impressionism is an immersive film that retraces the years leading up to this groundbreaking event. Drawing on the latest research conducted for the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition, the documentary combines historical reenactments, cutting-edge visual technology, and iconic works of art to transport audiences back to Paris in the 1870s and immerse them in the birth of an artistic revolution.
This event is organized in partnership with the American Friends Musées d’Orsay et de l’Orangerie.
