Special Education Data & Reporting: From Accurate Entry- Meaningful Impact
About this Event
Accurate special education data is essential for compliance, funding, program planning, and improving outcomes for students with disabilities.
This professional learning session provides an overview of California’s special education reporting cycles and helps participants understand how data entered at the LEA and student level connect to state reporting, monitoring, and program decisions.
Participants will explore key reporting areas—including CALPADS, SEIS, discipline and behavioral emergency reporting, LRE, preschool/DRDP data, disability categories, and personnel reporting—and clarify who is responsible, what is reported, when it is reported, and where the information comes from.
The session will also highlight how accurate and timely data can influence funding, compliance monitoring, the California School Dashboard, CIM, and local program improvement.
Intended Audience:
- Special education administrators,
- program staff,
- data/reporting staff,
- and other LEA personnel responsible for entering, reviewing, or using special education data.
