📅 April 9 🕕 6:00 PMAll aboard for a powerful journey through American history! As part of the America 250 in Ohio March theme of “Transportation,” this special Soup at Six program highlights how trains carried more than passengers and freight—they carried the story of our nation.
Join Train Curator David Ziegler as he shares the remarkable story of Ross Rowland Jr. and his “precious freight” aboard the Freedom Trains of 1946 and 1976. These extraordinary traveling museums carried twenty-six galleries of priceless American treasures across the country, inspiring patriotism and civic pride.
Travel thousands of miles with us as we explore artifacts that toured the nation—including a moon rock, documents related to the Louisiana Purchase, Jesse Owens’ gold medals, and hundreds more historic treasures curated from across the United States.
This fascinating program offers a rare look at how history quite literally rolled into towns nationwide, connecting communities through democracy and shared heritage.
Cost: $25 per person. Includes soup, bread, and dessert.
