About this Event
The evening will include:
A short opening reflection by , co-author of Gita and Health: The Gita’s Path to Lasting Health, Happiness and Harmony, offering philosophical grounding on sound, consciousness, and wellbeing.
This will be followed by a live instrumental meditation featuring learned, Guru-guided musicians from The Bandish Network, an intergenerational collective of heritage artists dedicated to lineage-informed practice.
will offer a sarod-based sound meditation. The sarod is a revered North Indian classical instrument with a history spanning over 300 years, traditionally used for deep rāga exploration and refined inner listening. Known for its sustained, sacred vocal-like resonance, the sarod is especially suited to slow, unfolding rāga forms that allow sound to settle into the energy body with depth, subtlety, purity and precision.
Hriday is a disciple of Grammy-nominated sarod player and composer Alam Khan, son of the late legendary sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan, whose lineage has profoundly shaped the transmission of Hindustani classical music globally across generations.
The music will be presented in long, unhurried phrases, allowing the vibrational qualities of the rāga to move gradually through the subtle body. This slow rāga exposition supports nervous system regulation and aligns with cakra-based energy pathways, enabling sound to function as a medium for internal coherence, release, and heightened awareness.
This evening is curated as a listening-based yogic sitting, where sound functions as medicine and inquiry rather than entertainment. The intention is contemplative reception—allowing rāga, resonance, and silence to work together as a healing and reflective practice.
What to bring:
Please bring your own meditation cushion, warm water, a handkerchief, an eye mask, and a warm shawl or wrap for comfort.
