In Chinese medicine, every season is associated with one of the five elements as well as a pair of organs. In winter, the water element dominates the kidney and bladder meridians. The essence of water is yielding and nourishing, and has a downward flowing movement. When the water element is out of balance in the body, we may experience fear/anxiety, low back and knee problems, joint problems, fatigue, restlessness, lack of creativity/fluidity. This workshop focuses on the kidney/bladder meridians in the body to help bring the water element into balance. The spirit of winter invites us to go within, to a time of incubation and rest, rejuvenating us in preparation for a new cycle of growth- spring! Somatic and yin yoga help the body experience a sense of inner nourishment and allow us to surrender to the darkness as a time of restoration. We will begin with fluid, somatic movements, tapping into the water element, and then settle into the stillness of yin to quiet the mind and bring us into a state of deep relaxation, building trust instead of fear. The workshop will also include self-acupressure techniques, and aromatherapy for the winter season. To register, visit www.weyogacenter.com. $20
