About this Event
Join Scottish Jamaican artist Kezia Lewis for a colourful paper collage art workshop in response to the SNAPSHOT shorts screened by the GFT. Materials will be provided for you to draw, cut and piece together your very own artwork to take home. During this immersive and relaxed session, Kezia will demonstrate her techniques and guide you through the process of creating your artwork while thinking about and discussing the themes explored in the films. The workshop will conclude with an informal sharing of the works created during the session.
Adults, young people and families are welcome to attend. Young people under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
Workshop facilitator bio:
Kezia is a Scottish Jamaican artist, designer, collaborator and facilitator with a background in printed textile design which deeply informs her art practice. Creating distinctive hand cut collage artworks Kezia plays intuitively with colour, form and mixing patterns. Kezia takes inspiration from her dual heritage, the beauty in everyday scenes, collected objects, curated spaces, nature and people to explore themes of storytelling, identity, memory, place and belonging. Work includes: ‘Windrush Legacy Creative Reflections’ exhibition (2023-24), ‘Time Cleaves Itself’ by Jeda Pearl book cover (2024) and awardee of the We Are Here Scotland Creators’ Fund+ (2024).
