About this Event
The Canadian Institute of Resources Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary invites you to the following free, hybrid workshop:
Online Privacy & Law Enforcement – An Act respecting Lawful Access – Issues & Challenges
The Government of Canada recently tabled Bill C-22 intended to assist Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies in their investigations. Provisions in Part 2 of this bill will require some electronic service providers to develop mandatory intercept capabilities in their systems that can be used to extract customer communications and other personal data. We will discuss the implications of this Bill for Albertans. The presentation will be recorded and the slides made available to registered participants when requested.
A question and answer period will follow the coffee break.
Sanjampreet Singh is a Research Associate in the Faculty of Law, University of Calgary. His research focuses on Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Technology law with a focus on human-centric regulation of emerging technologies.
