Tony Tausch and Eileen Schwab are the husband-wife owners of Coffee Emporium, the oldest-family owned coffeehouse in Ohio. It was established in 1973 and Tony and Eileen purchased the business in 1996. They are committed to seeking out the best coffees from around the world and providing outstanding customer service. In addition to their two cafes – Hyde Park and Over-The-Rhine – their coffee is served at local restaurants and is available at select Kroger stores in Ohio and Kentucky. Coffee Emporium has been selected “Best Overall Coffee House,” “Best Eastside Coffee House,” and “Best Central/Downtown/OTR Coffee House” by City Beat magazine for 15 years in a row (2009-2024).
Margaret’s coffee journey began when she joined P&G and her first assignment was Brand Assistant for Folgers Coffee. After 23 years at P&G, she became the Executive Director of the Coffee Quality Institute. There, she worked with private industry and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to design and implement programs to improve the sustainability of coffee farming in developing countries around the world. In 2003, she was one of the co-founders of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (www.womenincoffee.org), a non-profit organization established to empower women in the international coffee community to achieve meaningful and sustainable lives.
Sara Drabik is a Professor in Electronic Media & Broadcasting and the Media and Journalism Program Head at Northern Kentucky University. She teaches courses in Documentary Film production and leads students and faculty on study abroad experiences around the globe. Since 2013, Sara has been documenting women in coffee around the world, both individually and with her students. Their work in Guatemala and Rwanda has been utilized by multiple international organizations such as the International Women’s Coffee Alliance and Anacafe, the National Coffee Association of Guatemala.
