Sitting in Community with the Nibi/Mni/Water
About this Event
Sitting in Community with the Nibi/Water- Join Tanaǧidaŋ To Wiŋ and Annishinabe elder Giiwedini Binesiikwe (Gio Antell Cerise) as we gather in community to honor and connect with our precious relative, Nibi (Water). Through conversation, reflection, and shared learning, we will explore our relationship with the waters, as well as the plants and animals that depend on and care for them alongside us. Together, we will explore our relationship with water through a short guided meditation, followed by a creative art activity. Participants will paint a glass as a reminder of their connection to Nibi and the teachings it offers. We will close our evening in song, gratitude, and community.
Giiwedini Binesiikwe (Gio Antell Cerise) is a citizen of White Earth Nation. As a mom, water walker, part owner of the family business, Hobby Farmer Foods making a heritage beverage called Switchel and Reiki Master Teacher, Gio’s path is guided by the traditional values of stewardship and community care. Through her personal practice, Giiwe-ode (Return home to the Heart), and her work tending to sacred tobacco at the Indigenous Peoples Task Force (IPTF), she bridges ancient plant medicine with gentle energy healing. She believes that healing ourselves is inseparable from healing the earth.
