About this Event
The Center for Birth Justice (formerly PTBi) and SisterWeb invite you to celebrate Black Maternal Health Week 2025 by joining us for SisterWalks, a series of community walks in the San Francisco Bay Area designed to center Black mamas and Black maternal health.
In a world that often pulls us in a million directions, SisterWalks is a space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature, with joy, and most importantly with each other. Whether you’re a new or expecting mother, a birthworker, or simply passionate about Black maternal wellness, we welcome you to join us!
Our first walk will take place at the beautiful John McLaren Park @ Mansell & Visitacion (1234 Mansell Street) near the Bayview and Visitacion Valley in San Francisco, and we encourage you to come rocking your favorite shade of purple. In the coming months, we’ll meet at different locations across the Bay Area on the third Thursday of the month, moving at whatever pace works for each participant, sharing conversation, and soaking in the healing power of the outdoors. No pressure, no expectations—just a chance to walk, exhale, and be in community. Stay updated on future SisterWalks and other CBJ events by subscribing to our newsletter.
We will provide water and light snacks, but feel free to bring your own water or reusable water bottle. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, layering up depending on the forecast, and bringing sunscreen.
Come as you are. Walk. Connect with others and nature. Leave feeling lighter.
