Join Professor Ronald Hutton on 7 July at 7.00pm for an engaging evening exploring the story of Sir Gawain, one of King Arthur’s most famous and intriguing knights.Sir Gawain has long been among the best-known of the Knights of the Round Table, and one of the most compelling. Less spiritual than many of his peers, more concerned with human relationships, and closely associated with northern and midland England, Gawain is a richly complex figure. At times he appears as an anti-hero or even a figure of fun, but more often as the most gallant and honourable of knights. In this lecture, Professor Hutton examines the problem of Gawain’s origins and nature, considering his development across Welsh, French, and English traditions.
