Glastonbury’s underground tunnels – where are they? Geoff Stray has written the popular book on Avalon’s subterranean passageways. Now, for the first time, the Pilgrim’s Reception Centre has persuaded Geoff to lead a small group on a walking tour around Glastonbury showing exactly where the tunnels are located.
The group will meet at the Pilgrim Reception Centre on Glastonbury High Street, where Geoff will give an introductory talk, after which we will walk around Glastonbury town, the Abbey and the Tor, tracing the overground pattern of the underground tunnels. We will NOT be going down any tunnels, but permission is being sought for a glimpse of a subterranean entrance.
Geoff Stray is the author of several books apart from Glastonbury Underground, including The Mayan and Other Ancient Calendars, Mendip Madness (crazy but true Somerset bus driving stories) and a historical investigation, The Long-Lost Glastonbury Sapphire. In addition, a book about the 800-year old Chartres Labyrinth, (solving the purpose of the mysterious cups surrounding it), is the most recent addition to the collection. Geoff used to be a shoemaker and for many years he has been driving the tour-bus in May each year for the annual “Megalithomania” conference, held in Glastonbury.
Limited Tickets £35 available in the PRC (entrance fee for the Abbey not included)
