Sincerity and Sovereignty
About this Event
with Daniel Brottman
What is it that we actually want from spiritual practice? If we look beneath concepts handed to us from books and traditions and get honest about our true motivations, what do we find?
How can we take full ownership of our practice? What does it mean to take responsibility for our own views, determinations, and practices? What role can creativity and playfulness take in our formal practice? What does it mean to be in a truly wise and humble relationship with teachers and traditions, from a place of self-sovereignty?
Contacting the sincerest desires of our hearts, with the courage to stand fully in what we sense to be true, makes our practice all the more personal, organic, and even expedient.
Our afternoon together will include practices, a dharma talk, and discussion. From a standpoint of both sincerity and sovereignty, we'll spend time together in body-based meditation, metta practice, core transformation (a modality to help uncover deeper desires of the being), and ideal parent figure practice (an attachment healing method, related to many of our deepest desires as humans).
This program is for anyone who is drawn to these questions, and to a relationship with spirituality that is fully genuine.
